Wovens are the fabrics beginners are usually taught on, and for good reason: they hold still while you cut, feed evenly through the machine, and press into beautifully sharp seams. The one habit they ask in return is edge-finishing — a quick zigzag along raw seams stops fraying (no overlocker required; our beginner guide covers it).
