The right zip disappears into a garment; the wrong one is all anyone sees. Quick matching guide: concealed zips for dresses and skirts where you want a clean seam line, standard closed-end for cushions and trousers, open-ended when the two halves must separate completely, as on jackets and hoodies. Measure the opening, not the old zip — zips are sized by their teeth, not their tape.
