Counted cross stitch is the most portable form of meditation yet invented: a chart, a needle, and the quiet satisfaction of watching a picture assemble one X at a time. Our kits arrive complete — charted design, fabric, sorted threads and needle in the box — so the distance between “I fancy trying that” and the first stitch is about four minutes.
Choosing is mostly about honesty regarding time: smaller designs and lower stitch counts finish in evenings, full samplers are winter-long companions. The fabric count matters too — higher counts mean finer, more detailed work; lower counts are kinder to newer eyes (and pair beautifully with a magnifying lamp from our Sewing Room department).
